Occasionally there might be a requirement for multiple formats encoding to ensure a proper Thai subtitling feed display across different platforms, devices and channels. Thai subtitling specifications

While working on Thai subtitling we are considering certain requirements towards the subtitles’ technical parameters. These include limitations like: no more than two lines per subtitle; maximum total length of the subtitle in characters (most often 37); minimum and maximum duration of the subtitle (the duration for which the Thai subtitle is being shown on screen), frame gap, glyph list, line treatment, positional data, timing-to-audio, timing to shot changes, dialogue that crosses shot changes and many more. Extensive name conventions and glossaries are developed to ensure subtitling consistency.
Other considerations for Thai subtitling are the ratio between original and translated Thai text and the alphabet Thai language specific characters. Altogether, these limitations represent a hurdle which makes recreating the original content into Thai accurately enough on the one hand, and making the Thai subtitles compliant with the technical requirements stated above, quite a challenge.
